In Patna on November 17, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, the chief of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), said his party never asked for ministerial posts and respects the decisions of the alliance leaders. “We only talked about MLA seats in the seat‑sharing talks and didn’t raise any demands for cabinet jobs,” he told reporters. He added that the allocation of portfolios is for the ruling party to decide.
When asked about the new Nitish Kumar government, Manjhi said the media speculated that the BJP would get 16 ministries, JD(U) 15, LJP‑RV three, and HAM and the RLM one each. “We haven’t received any official confirmation,” he replied.
Manjhi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for their role in the NDA’s decisive victory. “Women from all walks of life voted in large numbers. We expected only 160–170 seats, but thanks to women’s strong turnout we secured 202. It was historic, and it was thanks to Mr. Modi and Dr. Nitish’s women‑centric schemes,” he said.
The minister also slammed Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader in Parliament. Manjhi accused Gandhi of hurting the Grand Alliance’s chances with remarks that seemed to insult the Prime Minister’s mother and denounced Chhath as a “drama.” He said these comments alienated voters and the opposition.
Reflecting on HAM’s recent performance, Manjhi highlighted that the party captured five out of six seats contested in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. “We won in Kutumba, Imamganj, Atri, Sikandra, and Barachatti, which shows the strength of our strategy and our connection with people,” he noted.
