In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla kicked off the new Elbrus Resort in Theog on Saturday, boosting the area’s tourism scene. As local officials announced, this fresh addition near the popular hill station promises a mix of modern comforts and the stunning natural vibes that draw visitors to Himachal Pradesh.
During the event, Governor Shukla shared an upbeat outlook on the state’s recovery from recent natural calamities like floods and landslides. “Things are getting back to normal step by step,” he said, adding that tourism—a key driver of Himachal’s economy—should pick up speed soon. He highlighted how projects like this resort not only spotlight the state as a top global travel spot but also open doors for local communities and young people through new jobs and growth.
Himachal Pradesh has long charmed tourists with its breathtaking landscapes, cozy hospitality, and adventure options around Shimla and beyond. The governor stressed that ramping up tourism will fuel the local economy and create plenty of employment chances for the youth. With the Elbrus Resort now open, expect more travelers to enjoy upscale stays amid the serene Himalayan surroundings, making the region even more appealing for vacations and getaways.
CP Verma, the governor’s secretary, joined the celebration, underscoring the event’s importance.
Shifting gears, Himachal Pradesh is carving out a bold new identity as “Khel Bhoomi,” or the land of sports excellence. Under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership, the state is transforming into a hub for athletes with top-notch facilities.
A prime example is the upcoming world-class multi-purpose sports complex in Kharedi, Nadaun, in Hamirpur district. This Rs 65 crore project will feature an eight-lane swimming pool, a shooting range, arenas for wrestling and boxing, centers for Kabaddi and yoga, plus cutting-edge setups for table tennis and badminton. It’s all about nurturing young talent and building a strong sports ecosystem that helps athletes chase their dreams on bigger stages.
The state government’s push here aims to inspire the next generation and set Himachal as a role model for sports development across India. With these initiatives, tourism and sports together could supercharge the economy and empower communities in this beautiful northern state.
