In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu shared warm Dussehra greetings with people across the state on Wednesday, just before the festival kicks off.
Governor Shukla pointed out how Dussehra represents the triumph of good over evil. He expressed hope that celebrations would bring lots of excitement and joy to every corner of Himachal Pradesh.
Chief Minister Sukhu also sent his best wishes to residents, saying the Dussehra festival should fill lives with happiness, peace, and prosperity.
The day before, on Tuesday, thousands of devotees flocked to various Shakti Peeths in Himachal Pradesh for Durga Ashtami, adding to the festive spirit.
In the state capital, Shimla’s famous 200-year-old Kalibari Temple turned into a lively hub of tradition. The local Bengali community led colorful rituals in their classic style, drawing crowds of devotees, tourists, and Bengali-origin locals.
They held a special Sandhi Puja ceremony, marking the transition from Ashtami to Navami. Sadhna Thakur, wife of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, stopped by the temple and took part in the rituals, making it an even more memorable event.
