Union Home Minister Amit Shah ramped up the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) push for the Bihar Assembly elections during a key strategy meeting in Patna on Friday. As part of his two-day visit to the state—his second in just eight days—Shah gathered top BJP leaders at the party’s state headquarters to sharpen their election game.
Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal shared that Shah laid out a clear winning plan. He urged everyone to drop personal agendas and hustle like regular party workers. “Forget who’s who—this is about the NDA’s victory, not individual stars,” Shah said. “Work as one team and make it happen, no matter what.”
Shah called the Bihar polls a national trendsetter, pushing workers to go all-in on organizing until voting day. “This fight shapes India’s future, so rise above differences and give it everything,” he added.
In a smart move, the party assigned 40 leaders from outside Bihar to oversee the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats—one per leader—to boost coordination. Jaiswal also handed over the screening committee’s candidate report to Bihar BJP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan right there.
The session drew about 80 senior figures, including BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, and others like Vinod Tawde, Deepak Prakash, and Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya. Earlier, Jaiswal greeted Shah, while Choudhary and Sinha welcomed Pradhan and Santhosh.
Before the Patna huddle, Shah reviewed the party’s setup, from grassroots strength to candidate picks and voter outreach. Sources say he demanded updates on booth-level work and told leaders to beef up local networks, lock in candidates, and connect directly with Bihar voters.
The day kicked off in Bettiah, where Shah spoke to around 350 BJP members from Champaran and Saran divisions at the Government Engineering College. Leaders from West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Saran joined in. He focused on growing the party base, firing up local teams, highlighting central and state schemes, and tightening links from villages to districts.
A party insider noted Shah pushed for door-to-door campaigning at every booth and panchayat across Bihar’s assembly seats. This visit highlights BJP’s all-hands-on-deck approach to counter the opposition INDIA bloc and solidify the NDA ahead of the high-stakes Bihar elections.
Shah plans more talks on Saturday, first in Samastipur’s Sarairanjan block with leaders from Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, and Samastipur. Then, he’ll head to Araria’s Forbesganj for a session with folks from Saharsa, Purnea, and Bhagalpur.
