Mumbai, Oct 25 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah will kick off India Maritime Week 2025 on Friday, Oct 27, at NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai. He will open the event with a keynote speech that sets the stage for a five‑day gathering aimed at boosting India’s standing as a leading maritime power.
The week, organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) and the Indian Ports Association (IPA), runs from Oct 27‑31. Industry leaders, policy makers, investors, innovators, and international partners will meet in Mumbai to discuss sustainable maritime growth, trade expansion, and the growth of India’s “blue economy”.
At the opening sessions, several key ministers will attend: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State Shantanu Thakur, and chief ministers from Maharashtra (Devendra Fadnavis), Gujarat (Bhupendra Patel), Goa (Pramod Sawant) and Odisha (Mohan Charan Majhi). Their presence highlights how strong maritime infrastructure can drive economic progress across the country.
Over the five days, the conference will host exhibitions, panel talks, and hands‑on workshops. Topics will cover green shipping, digital logistics, cruise tourism, and port‑driven industrial hubs. The event supports the government’s Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which aim to boost India’s global maritime footprint.
MoPSW officials say the week is more than a trade show. “It will be a catalyst for turning India into a global maritime hub through innovation, sustainability and partnership,” a senior MoPSW officer said. India already moves more than 95 % of its trade volume through ports. With port capacity now over 1,600 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and turnaround times under a day, the conference comes at a critical time as the country targets 10,000 MTPA by 2047.
Organizers expect over 100 countries, 500 exhibitors and 100,000 delegates. B2B meetings, Memoranda of Understanding and policy roundtables will drive concrete outcomes. Focus areas include green hydrogen hubs, offshore wind energy and deep‑sea mineral exploration.
India Maritime Week 2025 promises to chart a bold path for India’s blue economy and strengthen its role in the world’s trade corridors.
