In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, the Indian Army’s Army Training Command (ARTRAC) celebrated its 35th Raising Day with exciting events that brought together troops, families, and the local community. The festivities kicked off on September 27 at the scenic Ridge Maidan, where the Indian Army Symphony Band delivered a thrilling performance of military marches and popular songs. Crowds loved the show, which built camaraderie and community spirit. Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC, praised the musicians and honored them during the event.
The next day, Lt Gen Sharma flagged off the Run for Excellence, a challenging 3-kilometer uphill race from the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies to Ridge Maidan. Soldiers, their families, and even kids joined in with high energy, highlighting the Indian Army’s focus on unity, pride, and staying fit. The run wrapped up with a fun Zumba session led by fitness trainer Varsha, keeping everyone moving.
During the celebrations, Lt Gen Sharma stressed how vital physical fitness remains in our digital world. He reaffirmed ARTRAC’s strong support for the government’s Fit India initiative. The official Raising Day falls on October 1, and these events spotlight ARTRAC’s key role in building bonds within the armed forces and with local communities in India.
As one of the Indian Army’s seven commands, ARTRAC manages training programs across 34 establishments nationwide, shaping the next generation of soldiers.
