Hyderabad Police Bust Illegal Deer Meat and Horns Smuggling Ring
In a late-night crackdown, Hyderabad Police nabbed two men on Saturday evening after catching them with 10 kilograms of deer meat and three pairs of deer horns. The bust happened as the duo tried to sneak the illegal wildlife products through the city in a car.
It all started around 11:00 pm on September 13, when police got a tip-off about suspicious activity. A quick-response team from Hyderabad Police zoomed to the spot and stopped the vehicle right away. Inside, they found the shocking haul: fresh deer meat and horns, which are strictly banned under wildlife laws.
The suspects turned out to be Mohd Saleem Moosa, a 47-year-old doctor from Tolichowki in Hyderabad, and Mohd Iqbal Ali, a 48-year-old real estate businessman from Nampally. Cops also seized the four-wheeler they used for the transport.
"We handed over the accused, the deer meat, deer horns, and the vehicle to the Forest Department for deeper probe," a police official shared. This illegal wildlife trafficking case falls under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, which slaps heavy fines and jail time on anyone caught possessing, selling, or moving such items.
Hyderabad Police is urging everyone to join the fight against poaching and illegal hunting. "If you spot anything fishy—like illegal deer products or wildlife smuggling—report it straight to your local police station or Forest Department," said Chandra Mohan, DCP of South West Zone, Hyderabad Police. Your tip could save precious animals!
The investigation continues, as authorities dig into this wildlife crime network. Stay tuned for updates on this Hyderabad wildlife bust.
