Hyderabad Police Deport Sudanese National Involved in Drug Cases

Hyderabad police have taken strong action against drug trafficking by deporting a Sudanese national who overstayed in India for over 12 years. Mohamed Yagoub Mohamed Ali, arrested in multiple drug cases, was sent back to Sudan to stop him from posing a threat to national security.

The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) led the operation. They arrested Mohamed Ali recently and found him linked to illegal activities. Police say this deportation will help curb drug peddlers and protect the community.

Mohamed Ali first arrived in India on a student visa in July 2012. He enrolled in a BCA course at PG College in Secunderabad under Osmania University. But things changed quickly. He moved to ECIL, rented a house, and dropped out of his second year due to money troubles. That’s when he connected with a Tanzanian national living nearby, pulling him into the wrong crowd.

His troubles with the law started in 2018. Kushaiguda police caught him in an NDPS case— that’s the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act—and seized eight wet ganja plants from him. He spent time in Chanchalguda Jail, went through trial, and got bail after more than a year.

By 2020, he teamed up with another Tanzanian, a known drug user, and shifted to Paramount Colony in Tolichowki. In 2021, Rajendranagar police raided the spot and grabbed seven grams of charas and heroin from Mohamed Ali. Once again, jail time followed, and he walked free on bail after a year.

Even after that, he didn’t stop. Y.V.S. Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Task Force and H-NEW, revealed that Mohamed Ali kept trafficking drugs and stayed in touch with peddlers. On the night of October 24-25, 2024, H-NEW acted on a tip-off and nabbed him along with another Sudanese national, Mohammed AbdulRhman Osman. Officers found MDMA, a party drug, in Osman’s possession.

What made matters worse? Mohamed Ali’s passport expired in 2016, and his visa ended way back in 2013. With no valid papers, he freely dabbled in drug trafficking. Police decided deportation was the best way to end his stay in India.

H-NEW worked fast with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Hyderabad. They got an emergency travel document from the Sudan High Commission in New Delhi. An exit permit came from FRRO, and they booked his flight from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Inspector G.S. Daniel and his H-NEW team escorted Mohamed Ali all the way, ensuring he boarded the flight back to Sudan. This move highlights Hyderabad police’s crackdown on foreign nationals involved in drug cases and overstaying visas.
