Prime Minister Narendra Modi became emotional during a recent virtual speech when he recalled the hurt caused by personal insults aimed at his late mother. The incident happened during a ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, where some leaders from the Congress and RJD allegedly made derogatory remarks about his mother from the stage.
PM Modi talked about his deep pain and disappointment, especially because his mother, who lived a modest life and had nothing to do with politics, was insulted in front of thousands of people. He shared that his mother passed away after completing 100 years, and even after her death, her respect remains very important to him. “What was her fault that she was made to hear such vile abuses?” he asked in his speech.
This emotionally charged moment happened in Darbhanga, Bihar, where protesters from the Congress-RJD alliance were present. The Prime Minister criticized this alliance, saying that insulting women shows a mentality that looks down on them and treats them as objects. He pointed out that whenever governments with anti-women attitudes come to power, women like mothers, sisters, and daughters suffer the most.
PM Modi emphasized the respect that Bihar gives to mothers, especially during the worship of ‘Chhatti Maiya,’ and assured people that such abusive acts will not be tolerated. “I want to tell those who insulted my mother — Modi might forgive once, but the land of Bihar and India will never accept disrespect to a mother,” he said.
He also called on the public to demand answers from RJD and Congress leaders about the abusive slogans against mothers during their rallies. Meanwhile, the person responsible for shouting abuse has been arrested, but so far, RJD and Congress have not apologized for the incident.
This incident highlights the ongoing political tensions in Bihar and the deep cultural value placed on respecting mothers in Indian society.
