Union Minister Giriraj Singh took a strong swipe at the Congress party on Thursday, slamming their leaders for showing weak leadership on national security issues over the years.
In Begusarai, Bihar, Singh spoke to and didn’t hold back. He accused Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, of acting like an “urban Naxal”—a term often used for left-wing extremists hiding in urban areas. “When someone like Rahul Gandhi behaves this way, it’s no surprise that other Congress folks echo the same,” Singh said. He also pointed to P. Chidambaram’s recent remarks, calling them overdue. Chidambaram had admitted that the Manmohan Singh government lacked strong willpower, something Singh blamed on Congress treating Pakistan as a tool for votes.
Singh questioned Congress priorities: “I don’t get it—is the country more important, or the party and votes?” He drew a sharp contrast between that era and today’s government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “It wasn’t just a minority government back then; the willpower was weak,” he noted. “If Modi had been PM at the time, he might have acted against Pakistan early on, and we wouldn’t need something like Operation Sindoor today.” Operation Sindoor refers to recent strong actions India took against Pakistan amid ongoing tensions.
Shifting gears, Singh celebrated the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as it marked its 100th anniversary. He praised the organization’s selfless work and dedication to India’s growth. “RSS volunteers have always stepped up during tough times,” he said, citing their key roles in the 1971 India-Pakistan war, floods, droughts, and other disasters.
This comes right after Prime Minister Modi echoed similar sentiments during RSS centenary events in New Delhi on Wednesday. Modi highlighted how the RSS has built and strengthened countless lives since its founding. “Just as civilizations thrive along great rivers, so many lives have flourished thanks to the RSS,” he said. “From day one, the organization’s big goal has been nation-building.”
