Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took a big step toward easier government services on Saturday. She launched India’s first mobile government office, called “MLA on Wheels – Rekha Sarkar Aapke Dvaar.” This van brings help right to people’s doorsteps, so folks in Delhi don’t have to trek to offices to fix issues or get services.
Gupta kicked off the program from her MLA office on Old Pankha Road in the Janakpuri constituency. “Democracy gets stronger when we solve people’s problems right at their homes,” she said. “This mobile office builds a real bridge between the government and everyday citizens.”
The launch happened during Seva Pakhwada, a special service fortnight celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Gupta explained that the van will handle grievances, essential services, and public concerns directly in neighborhoods. “With our Government at Your Doorstep program, people get quicker help, smoother processes, and open, honest administration,” she added.
The goal? Make governance feel closer and more personal. No more repeated trips to distant offices. Gupta pointed out that Prime Minister Modi always stresses true leadership means serving the people—not wielding power. This mobile office draws straight from that idea, focusing on dedication to citizens.
It’ll make a huge difference for moms, women, seniors, and people with disabilities who struggle to travel. The van will pull up at their homes, chat with them, and sort out their worries on the spot.
Local MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Delhi ministers for home, urban development, education, and energy—Ashish Sood—joined the event. Sood shared that the mobile office will cruise around the entire Janakpuri area, signing up complaints and sending them straight to the right departments.
Inside the van, you’ll find a laptop, a stenographer, and a clerk. They make sure every issue gets noted down and rushed to the MLA for fast fixes. “This is a fresh way to link citizens with Government at Your Doorstep,” Sood said. He noted that after thorough research, the team confirmed no other place in India runs a setup like this.
