Indian Navy’s INS Trikand is making waves in the Mediterranean Sea, kicking off India’s first-ever bilateral maritime exercise with Greece. The stealth frigate docked at Salamis Bay in Greece on Saturday during its ongoing deployment, and an official shared exciting details on Sunday.
This landmark India-Greece naval exercise aims to boost teamwork between the two navies. INS Trikand will focus on sharpening tactical skills, improving operational coordination, and building stronger ties. During the port visit, the crew will join forces with Greek counterparts for key activities like meetings with top military leaders, planning sessions, cross-deck visits, and fun cultural exchanges to connect people from both nations.
Next up is the thrilling sea phase of the exercise, where the ships will practice real-world scenarios together. After wrapping up, INS Trikand will sail on to the next leg of its Mediterranean mission.
This isn’t the ship’s first big stop. Earlier, on September 1, 2025, INS Trikand arrived in Alexandria, Egypt, to join the massive multinational Exercise Bright Star 2025, hosted by Egypt from September 1 to 10. The event brought together troops from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and navies from several countries, including the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Greece, Cyprus, and Italy.
Bright Star 2025, led by the US Central Command, covered air, land, and sea operations. It honed skills in tackling hybrid threats and irregular warfare, while strengthening regional security and global cooperation. In Alexandria, INS Trikand’s team took part in similar bonding activities—think discussions with officials, ship visits, cultural events, and even sports matches to build lasting people-to-people links.
With more port calls lined up in the Mediterranean, this deployment highlights India’s push for professional naval partnerships. It’s all about enhancing interoperability with friendly maritime nations and promoting peace in the region. Stay tuned for updates on these exciting naval adventures!
