Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently kicked off the 51.38-km Bairabi-Sairang railway project in Mizoram, and locals are buzzing with excitement. This big step connects the northeastern state better to the rest of India, opening doors for trade, education, and tourism.
At the event, a thrilled resident shared, “It’s super exciting to join the Indian Railways network as the fourth northeast state. This railway will boost our connectivity and spark new chances in trade, education, and tourism.” Students are equally pumped. One young voice said, “I hope this railway line supercharges our economy and helps Mizoram’s youth make the most of it.” Another added, “It’ll push our society toward real growth and motivate young people to hustle harder.”
Mizoram Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar couldn’t hold back his gratitude. “A huge thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching this railway station in Mizoram. Shoutout to the Railway Minister and the whole team who made it happen,” he said.
This project links Mizoram’s capital, Aizawl, to the main Indian Railways network—the fourth northeastern capital to get this boost after Guwahati, Agartala, and Itanagar. PM Modi didn’t stop there; he flagged off three new train services and unveiled development projects worth over Rs 9,000 crore to fuel the region’s progress.
After wrapping up in Mizoram, Modi headed to Manipur for the next part of his Northeast tour. He’s set to speak at public rallies in Churachandpur and Imphal, plus meet with local MLAs, civil society groups, and community leaders to discuss key issues. This railway milestone is already seen as a game-changer for Mizoram’s connectivity and economic growth.
