Anantnag Police Cracks Down on Narco-Terror Links with Property Attachments
In a strong move against unlawful activities, Anantnag Police in Jammu and Kashmir attached key properties on Thursday as part of their ongoing fight against narco-terrorism. This action targets assets connected to a major case, showing the police’s determination to root out anti-national elements.
The latest attachment involves a plot of land in Sangam Bijbehara, measuring 3 Kanals and 6 Marlas under Khasra No. 283 Min, Khewat No. 16, and Khata No. 155. The land belongs to Iqra Mushtaq, daughter of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar from Hugam, Srigufwara in Anantnag. She’s the niece of the main accused, Firdous Ahmad Bhat. Police carried out this under FIR No. 57/2024 at Mattan Police Station, which includes charges under Sections 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act, 13, 18, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or UAPA, Section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, and Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
This isn’t a one-off step. Just last week, on September 5, Anantnag Police seized a Swift car with registration JK03N-3237. The vehicle belongs to Muzakir Mohi-ud-Din Shah, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah from Takia Hugam, Srigufwara in Anantnag. Like the land, Muzakir is also the nephew of accused Firdous Ahmad Bhat. Police attached the car under Section 25(1) of the UAPA, linking it to the same FIR No. 57/2024 at Mattan Police Station with identical charges.
Under the law, authorities now treat this vehicle as proceeds of terrorism. The owner can’t sell, lease, or transfer it until further orders. This crackdown highlights how police are going after not just the main players but also their relatives’ assets tied to terror funding and drug smuggling.
Anantnag Police say these steps follow strict legal processes and form part of their broader campaign to maintain peace and public safety in Jammu and Kashmir. They remain fully committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring anyone supporting unlawful or anti-national activities faces the consequences.
