Team India has done it again, clinching the Asia Cup 2025 with a thrilling five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the final at Dubai International Stadium. The win marks India’s second T20I Asia Cup title and their ninth overall, including past ODI editions, sparking celebrations across the country.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led the cheers, praising the team’s teamwork and spirit. In a post on X from the Office of LG J&K, he wrote: “Well done, Team India! Congratulations for lifting the Asia Cup 2025. Your exemplary teamwork, determination, consistent performance, and the winning spirit have made the entire nation proud.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah echoed the excitement late Sunday, calling it a “phenomenal victory.” He posted on X: “The fierce energy of our boys blew up the rivals again. Bharat is destined to win no matter which field.” His words highlighted India’s unstoppable drive in cricket and beyond.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi jumped in with his congratulations on Twitter: “#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.” The playful nod to a historic military operation added a patriotic flair to the cricket triumph.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar kept it simple and proud: “Congrats to Team India on winning the Asia Cup. New India delivers.” His message captured the growing confidence of the nation through sports successes.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared her joy while speaking to reporters late Sunday night. “From the bottom of my heart, my congratulations to the entire Indian cricket team for winning the Asia Cup,” she said. “India’s historic victory during this Navratri of Maa Durga is a joyous occasion for the 144 crore people of India.” The timing during the festival made the win feel even more special.
On the field, Tilak Varma starred with an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, including three fours and four sixes. His steady half-century partnerships—first with Sanju Samson (24 off 21) for 57 runs, then with Shivam Dube (33 off 22)—guided India to chase down 147 in a tense finish. Rinku Singh sealed it with the winning runs on the first ball of his Asia Cup debut.
India stayed undefeated against Pakistan throughout the tournament, starting with a seven-wicket group-stage win, followed by a six-wicket Super Four victory, and now this title-clinching five-wicket thriller.
Pakistan posted 146 all out in 19.1 overs after India won the toss and chose to bowl. An 84-run opening stand between Sahibzada Farhan (57 off 38, with four fours and three sixes) and Fakhar Zaman (46 off 35, two fours and two sixes) gave them hope. But Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav (4/30) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/30) triggered a collapse from 113/1, while Jasprit Bumrah (2/25) grabbed the last two wickets.
In the chase, India stumbled to 20/3 early on thanks to Faheem Ashraf’s 3/29 burst. But Varma’s calm knock and key partnerships turned the game, even as Pakistan fought back sporadically. This Asia Cup 2025 win cements Team India’s dominance in Asian cricket.
