New Delhi, Nov 28 (LatestNewsX) – Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Paatil, opened the two‑day “Vision for Sujalam Bharat” Summit 2025 on Friday, kicking off talks on water management. He said the summit, coordinated by the Ministry of Jal Shakti and NITI Aayog, seeks to weave grassroots input into national‑level water policy, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. According to the ministry, the event will sharpen efforts in water governance, sanitation, and sustainable practices nationwide, and form a key link in the larger plan to combine science, sustainability and community voices into a lasting water‑security strategy. Paatil added that the summit’s outcomes will help shape India’s roadmap to a water‑secure, climate‑resilient future, and that all participants were encouraged to share field insights and help refine practical actions. He urged that the forum work toward realizing Modi’s dream of a Sujalam, sustainable, and prosperous Bharat for generations to come. Around 250 people—including central ministers, state and union‑territory officials, technical experts, panchayat representatives, NGOs, self‑help groups, community organisations and award recipients—attended the opening ceremony. In the inaugural session, the minister released the “Book on Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 1.0”, highlighting community‑driven groundwater recharge projects and successful water‑conservation models across India. He also launched a report on the ecological status of the Barak River Basin, aimed at guiding basin‑wide restoration plans, and unveiled the Ganga Pulse Public Portal, an integrated digital platform to improve public access to real‑time river‑health data and encourage broader participation in monitoring. Six thematic sessions – Rejuvenation of Rivers and Springs; Sustainability of Drinking Water; Technology for Efficient Water Management; Water Conservation and Recharge; Greywater Management and Reuse; and Community and Institutional Engagement for Behaviour Change – will take place. Based on feedback, the ministry will distill key takeaways into actionable recommendations, which will steer the next implementation phase across relevant departments and partner institutions.
