Jammu, Oct 18 () – Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, visited Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday to wish President Droupadi Murmu a Happy Diwali. He also briefed her on fresh government plans and recent progress in his ministries.
During the meeting, Singh updated the President on the situation in Jammu & Kashmir, the state he represents. He highlighted two upcoming national science events that aim to showcase India’s growing innovation ecosystem and support the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision.
The first event, the India International Science Festival (IISF‑2025), will run for four days in Chandigarh from December 6. “Vigyan Se Samriddhi – Science to Prosperity” will be the festival’s theme, celebrating scientific discovery and its link to national prosperity. The festival will feature exhibitions, talks, and interactive sessions at Panjab University.
The second event is the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC‑2025). Scheduled for November 3‑5 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the conclave will be the country’s first integrated platform covering science, technology, and innovation. Called “Imagine, Innovate, Inspire for Viksit Bharat 2047,” ESTIC will bring together scientists, industry leaders, entrepreneurs and policymakers. Sessions will cover front‑line fields such as semiconductors, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, space science and clean energy.
Singh noted that ESTIC is a “whole‑of‑government” effort, involving 13 ministries and departments, with 11 thematic sessions that encourage real collaborations between researchers, startups and industry. The minister said India’s innovation landscape has grown hugely in the last decade. The country ranks among the top six globally for patent filings and is expected to surpass major economies in research publications by 2029.
“ESTIC‑2025 will help map India’s long‑term scientific roadmap and align innovation with national priorities and sustainable development goals,” Singh said. The two events complement each other: while ESTIC explores scientific study, IISF celebrates discoveries and inventions.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has entered its most dynamic phase in science and technology, the minister added. The President listened to Singh’s updates and expressed support for the government’s push toward a science‑driven future.
