Srinagar – The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the J&K Crime Branch says a Pune‑based fraudster has been booked over a ₹46.9 lakh consignment scam. The victim, a local trader, was tricked into paying upfront for “natural nuts” that never arrived.
According to the EOW statement, the complainant was contacted by someone claiming to run D.K. Enterprises. The fraudster promised fresh nuts, convinced the victim to send money, but then disappeared with the cash.
Police started a preliminary enquiry as soon as the complaint hit their desk. During the probe, investigators found the “supplier” had issued a fake order and misled the business into believing D.K. Enterprises was an authentic nut trader.
The EOW said the case raises flag‑rant offenses under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act. A formal charge sheet has been filed at the EOW Police Station in Kashmir, and the investigation is still underway.
The victim had specifically asked for a batch of natural nuts from a brand that sells nut butter and other breakfast items. Police continue to pursue the suspect and will keep the public updated as new leads emerge.
