JP Nadda shares how one guiding line from PM Modi changed his political journey

BJP National President and Union Minister J.P. Nadda recently opened up about a game-changing moment in his political life, all thanks to a piece of advice from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sharing his #MyModiStory on social media platform X, Nadda revealed how Modi’s simple words flipped his approach to leadership and public service.

Back when Nadda served as the Leader of the Opposition in Himachal Pradesh, Modi was the state in-charge for the BJP. During a chat, Modi asked Nadda where he got his issues for the assembly debates. Nadda explained that he and his team scanned newspapers and jotted down notes to prepare questions.

Modi smiled and dropped this gem: “Nadda ji, the Opposition’s job doesn’t end in the House. People need to see that their Leader of the Opposition is right there with them, listening to their troubles and working on solutions.”

Nadda didn’t waste a second—he took the advice to heart. Over the next 15 days, he hit the road, visiting two or three districts at a time until he’d covered the whole state. He set up shop in circuit houses or public spots, openly inviting folks to share their concerns. This meant direct talks with farmers, youth, employees, and workers, giving him a real pulse on grassroots issues.

The impact? Huge. “That shift changed me inside out,” Nadda shared. His debating style evolved, and he finally grasped the gap between newspaper headlines and the raw stories from everyday people. It boosted his confidence that even the Opposition could steer the state forward.

The results spoke for themselves. The BJP’s image soared—no longer just critics, they became the true voice of the masses. When elections rolled around, forming the government seemed like a distant dream. But thanks to Modi’s guidance, they turned the tide and made it happen.

Looking back, Nadda reflected, “One line, one lesson—it redefined politics for me. Narendra Modi showed that real leaders sit with the people and tune into their heartbeats.” This personal anecdote highlights Modi’s influence on BJP leaders and the power of connecting directly with voters in Indian politics.
