In Hyderabad, the BJP is gearing up for the November 11 by‑election in the Jubilee Hills Assembly seat. The party has revealed a powerful lineup of “star” campaigners to help its nominee, L. Deepak Reddy, fight for the seat that became vacant after the death of Maganti Gopinath.
### BJP’s star‑studded squad
Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Arjun Ram Meghwal, G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar and B. Srinivasa Varma, along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, will be on the campaign trail.
Young leaders K. Annamalai, Tejasvi Surya and MPs D.K. Aruna and D. Purandeswari will also rally behind Deepak Reddy.
The BJP’s state machinery adds a host of faces: OBC Mora president MD K. Laxman, National General Secretary Sunil Bansal, state president N. Ramchander Rao, MPs Eatala Rajender, Dharampuri Arvind, Konda Vishweswar Reddy, M. Raghunandan Rao, Godem Nagesh, and even Andhra Pradesh health minister Satya Kumar and state unit chief PNV Madhav.
### BRS prepares its own lineup
BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) has also announced a robust team. Key figures include former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), working president K. T. Rama Rao, senior leader T. Harish Rao, and a pioneering batch of former ministers such as Srinivas Yadav, Padmarao Goud, Mahmood Ali, Prashanth Reddy, E. Dayakar Rao, and others.
BRS has fielded Gopinath’s wife, Maganti Sunitha, after the late MLA’s passing.
### The race and the stakes
Congress, the ruling party, has nominated Naveen Yadav to contest the seat. Deepak Reddy filed his nomination on the last day of the deadline, hoping to overturn his 2023 defeat. In that contest, Gopinath topped the poll with 80,549 votes, beating former cricket star Mohammed Azharuddin of Congress by 16,337 votes. Deepak ended up third with 25,866 votes.
The outcome of the Jubilee Hills by‑election could shift the political balance in Telangana’s capital region and signal how the BJP and BRS perform in a highly competitive landscape. Stay tuned for the final results on November 11.
