Fans in Varanasi Pray for India’s Win Over Pakistan in Asia Cup Clash
Cricket fever is running high in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where enthusiastic fans gathered to perform aarti and offer prayers for Team India’s victory against Pakistan in the Asia Cup match on Sunday. The event highlights the deep passion Indian cricket supporters have for their team, especially in this high-stakes India-Pakistan rivalry.
One devoted fan who joined the pooja shared his excitement, saying, "We hope our Indian cricket team defeats Pakistan just like our army has done in the past—one-sided and strong. Pakistan lags behind in cricket skills and game understanding. Our players will battle like soldiers, so we’re calling this Operation Sindoor 2." The reference to "Operation Sindoor" adds a patriotic touch, linking the match to India’s military pride.
But not everyone is cheering for the game. The India vs Pakistan Asia Cup fixture has sparked sharp criticism, particularly from families of victims in the tragic Pahalgam terror attack and opposition leaders. The attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 left 26 tourists dead at the hands of Pakistan-sponsored terrorists, fueling widespread anger and calls to boycott the match.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been vocal in slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the decision to play against Pakistan. Speaking to the media, Owaisi questioned the government’s priorities, asking, "My question to the Chief Ministers of Assam and Uttar Pradesh, and everyone else: You don’t have the power to refuse a cricket match against Pakistan, even after they targeted our 26 citizens in Pahalgam based on their religion and shot them?"
He went further, challenging the BJP: "Is the money from this cricket match more valuable than the lives of those 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack?" Owaisi’s remarks underscore the emotional divide, with many feeling the game ignores the pain of terror victims.
As the Asia Cup India-Pakistan match approaches, sentiments remain mixed—excitement from fans clashes with demands for justice over the Pahalgam incident. Will Team India rise to the occasion on the field? Stay tuned for updates on this gripping cricket showdown.
