Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia took a close look at the progress of several major projects in Gwalior on Monday. He met with officials and local representatives at the District Collector’s office to discuss nearly a dozen key developments funded by the central and state governments.
These projects include the big redevelopment of Gwalior Railway Station, the proposed Gwalior-Agra Expressway, an elevated road in the city, water distribution initiatives, and more. Scindia wants to speed things up and ensure everything stays on track to boost Gwalior’s growth.
During the meeting, Scindia shared exciting updates on the Gwalior Railway Station modernization. This Rs 534.70 crore project will wrap up by April 2026. It aims to highlight Gwalior’s rich heritage and local art and culture. Once done, passengers will enjoy top-notch facilities like bright lighting, escalators, lifts for easy access, clear signage, a wide roof plaza, plenty of waiting areas, and fun recreational spots.
The day before, on Sunday, Scindia visited the site in person. He chatted with officials, checked the construction materials, and reviewed the design. He stressed using high-quality stones for the flooring to capture Gwalior’s cultural vibe. “No compromises on quality,” he said firmly.
Scindia also kicked off the land acquisition for the massive Rs 4,413 crore Gwalior-Agra Expressway project. This will connect Gwalior to Agra in Uttar Pradesh, making travel faster and smoother.
On the infrastructure front, two elevated road projects worth over Rs 1,500 crore are set to finish by the end of 2027. These will help cut down traffic jams in busy parts of the city.
He didn’t miss the Rs 1,900 crore water distribution project under the Centre’s Jal Jeevan Mission (also known as Nal Jal Yojana). This will cover both rural and urban areas in Gwalior, rolling out in two phases to ensure clean water reaches everyone soon.
Scindia also pushed for quicker work on the Gwalior Western Bypass, which is still under development. Finishing this road will make traffic flow much better across the city.
In his statement, Scindia highlighted the importance of these Gwalior development projects. “Many have been stuck or moving slowly, but they’ll transform Gwalior’s future. I’ve told officials to stick to the deadlines set by the Centre—no delays allowed.” With his push, Gwalior is gearing up for a brighter, more connected tomorrow.
