Mangaluru Police Bust Fake Document Racket Used for Bail in Criminal Cases
Police in Mangaluru have cracked down on a sneaky fake document racket that’s been helping criminals get bail easily. The City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested several people involved in creating and using forged Aadhaar cards and Pahani documents as sureties in court. This bust happened after a tip-off, and it shows how these fraudsters tricked the justice system.
The whole operation kicked off on September 9 when the CCB got a reliable tip about people making fake IDs to secure bail for those arrested in criminal cases. Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy shared the details with reporters, explaining how the team quickly jumped into action and uncovered the network.
First up, the police nabbed Abdul Rahman from the Urva police station area. During questioning, he confessed to helping accused people get court bail by using bogus documents. This led to a case at Urva station, and digging deeper revealed Nishant Kumar’s role. Kumar runs a computer center in Kodialbail and actually created the counterfeit Aadhaar cards and Pahani papers.
Reddy pointed out that both Rahman and Kumar cheated the court in two separate cases at Mangaluru North Police Station. They even put their own photos on the fake Aadhaar cards to pose as real sureties, fooling judges and getting bail for inmates in judicial custody. It’s a bold scam that’s now under the spotlight.
The investigation didn’t stop there. At Mangaluru North station, cops found more links. Nitin Kumar had used the fake name Ganesh K. Salyan to get bail for someone in a Mangaluru South Police Station case (number 24/22). They arrested him right away. Similarly, Hasan Riyaz posed as A.M. Hameed to secure bail in another case (number 46/22) at the same station—he’s in custody too.
Adding to the arrests, Mohammed Hanif, who acted as a broker supplying these fake documents for bail, also got caught. Reddy said the team is still probing for more connections in this fake Aadhaar and Pahani document racket, which could involve even bigger players.
This crackdown highlights the growing problem of fake document scams in bail proceedings across India. Authorities warn that using forged IDs not only cheats the courts but also delays justice for real victims. Stay tuned as Mangaluru police continue their hunt for anyone else tied to this fraud.
