Karnataka’s Congress govt responsible for Ganesh visarjan violence: Kumaraswamy

Tensions Rise in Karnataka’s Maddur After Stone-Pelting During Ganesh Visarjan

In a shocking turn of events, violence erupted in Maddur town of Mandya district, Karnataka, during the Ganesh Visarjan procession. Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who represents the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, has blamed the Congress-led government for sparking these communal clashes. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, he called out the state administration for creating an atmosphere where Hindus feel constantly offended.

Kumaraswamy didn’t hold back, saying, "The main reason for such big incidents in our district and across Karnataka is the way the Congress government behaves. Under their rule, Hindus are getting hurt every day, and these clashes are popping up everywhere." He pointed out that since Congress took power in Karnataka, they’ve been pushing the Hindu community toward unnecessary conflicts. In the Maddur stone-pelting case, he accused the party of fueling the fire between communities.

The minister made it clear he’s not just talking politics. "Look at the facts—if you check the state’s history, Ganesh procession troubles used to happen in just one or two spots. Now, they’re happening in every corner, and Congress is behind it," Kumaraswamy added. He warned that thousands gathered in Maddur after the incident, and Congress leaders are playing a dangerous game that could backfire on them big time.

What exactly went down? During the Hindu community’s Ganesh Visarjan on Sunday night, a few troublemakers allegedly threw stones at the procession in Maddur town. This isn’t new to the area—a similar clash happened in nearby Nagamangala town last year, creating major tension. Kumaraswamy noted that Mandya has always been peaceful, known as a garden of all religions, but now there’s a clear effort to stir up communal violence. "These kinds of attacks never happened in Mandya’s history. People here live peacefully, but this could blow up into something serious," he said.

Urging calm, Kumaraswamy appealed to folks in Maddur and Mandya district: "Don’t let things escalate or give violence a chance. Karnataka is for harmony." He even spoke to the local Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police this morning, pushing them to maintain law and order. In a heartfelt note to the women of Maddur, he said, "Mothers, please make sure no property gets damaged and no lives are lost in the protests."

The Ganesh Visarjan violence in Maddur has left the town on edge. Six people got injured in the stone-pelting incident, and police quickly arrested 21 suspects. Tensions boiled over on Monday as protesters, including many women, hit the streets to condemn the attack. To control the situation, authorities slapped prohibitory orders in Maddur until Tuesday morning, September 9.

As Karnataka grapples with these rising communal tensions during Ganesh Visarjan, all eyes are on how the government responds. Stay tuned for updates on the Maddur violence and efforts to restore peace in Mandya district.
