Kerala Gears Up for Nationwide Voter List Revision: Meeting with Political Parties Set for September 20
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – As India ramps up preparations for a special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists across the country, inspired by Bihar’s recent efforts, Kerala’s Chief Election Officer (CEO) Rathan U Kelkar is getting everything ready. He shared exciting updates with , highlighting how the state is ahead of the game.
Kelkar announced that officials will meet with political parties on September 20 to explain the entire SIR process. "We’ve taken all the necessary steps to be fully prepared," he said. "We’re eagerly waiting for the official schedule, and this meeting will cover every detail of the steps involved."
The SIR exercise for Kerala should get the green light soon. The state has already digitized all its records from the last SIR back in 2002 and made them searchable on the official website. Plus, they’ve trained their election teams to handle everything smoothly. In a recent meeting with the Election Commission of India (ECI), Kerala showcased its readiness, just like other states.
What makes Kerala stand out? The state boasts 100% digital literacy, full 4G coverage, and digitized documents for easy access. Kelkar praised the supportive role of the public, media, and political parties. "With an informed society like ours, this voter list revision will be straightforward and effective," he added. "It’s all about teamwork from everyone involved."
This comes hot on the heels of an ECI conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, where Chief Electoral Officers from all states and Union Territories reviewed SIR preparations. It was the third such meeting this year. The Bihar CEO even shared their strategies, challenges, and success stories to help others gear up for the nationwide electoral rolls update.
With Kerala’s tech-savvy edge, the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists looks set to be a success, ensuring cleaner and more accurate electoral rolls for future elections. Stay tuned for the official announcement!
