A family from Malappuram in Kerala is calling for help after their five‑year‑old UKG student was allegedly abandoned on a road because the school bus fee hadn’t been paid.
The child attends Chelambra ALP School, an aided school where the state pays teachers’ salaries but a private group runs the day‑to‑day operations. According to the parents, the bus driver did not let the boy board the vehicle earlier this week because the two‑month bus fee of ₹1,000 remained unpaid. The driver then left the bus without the boy, who was waiting on the roadside. When the other children boarded, the crying boy was left behind and, as neighbors saw him, he returned home in tears.
After the incident, school officials and PTA members visited the family and apologized. Still, the parents say the child’s emotional damage is too great, and they have pulled the boy from the school. They also claim that when the mother tried to discuss the problem with the school management, staff were rude and told her to leave.
The parents have now approached Kerala’s Education Minister, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and local police. They want the school to take responsibility and ensure that students are not put in a similar situation again. The school officials have issued no statement about the matter.
