Bengaluru, Oct 25 – Karnataka’s political scene heats up after the BJP slammed Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for not confronting the chief minister’s son, MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
The BJP questioned whether Shivakumar, who leads the state Congress, “has the courage to issue a notice to CM Siddaramaiah’s son.” Party leaders write that Shivakumar has used threats against film actors, MLAs, and even party workers, yet he has not taken a firm step against Yathindra.
R. Ashoka, leader of the opposition, said it shows poor leadership. He warned that if Shivakumar were to become chief minister, “Siddaramaiah will still be the real power behind the throne.” Ashoka’s comments echo concerns that a weak leader might rule the state without delivering real change for Kannadigas.
The controversy grew when Yathindra said his father is “at the end of his political career.” He added that PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi should step up as the new guide for those who “embrace scientific and progressive ideas.” The comment fuels rumours of a leadership shift and a potential power‑sharing deal in Karnataka.
Shivakumar said he would not comment now but promised to deliver the message to the correct parties. “I stand by discipline. Discipline is our party’s priority,” he told reporters. The deputy chief minister also reminded people that “no one is bigger than the party,” but no formal notice has been issued against Yathindra.
Party insiders confirm that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee already sent a report, including a video clip of Yathindra’s announcement, to the national leadership. Shivakumar’s camp expects the national Congress to react strongly to the situation.
Key issues at stake: leadership change in Karnataka, the role of Satish Jarkiholi, the future of the Siddaramaiah family’s influence, and the BJP’s growing pressure on the state Congress. The development promises more twists in the state’s political drama.
