All India Majlis‑e‑Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi spoke on Thursday after an interview with , saying the Gaza peace plan is unclear and lacks accountability for civilian deaths. He warned that Israel’s actions could be “genocide” and that the plan treats the region like a real‑estate project, with no clear end to the violence.
Owaisi cited media reports that around 65,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza, including 20,000 children and 15,000 women. He demanded answers from the international community about the killers. “If Israel is committing genocide, will those responsible be punished?” he asked. He accused the Israeli government of forcing a cease‑fire that benefits only the occupied Palestinian territory, while keeping the Palestinian state in limbo.
In Pune, Owaisi also criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praising Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces an indictment from the International Criminal Court (ICC). “Why does the Prime Minister of India praise a leader who is wanted for war crimes?” he said. He added that the BJP’s narrative that Israel helps India is “misleading” when no aid is truly given.
Earlier this year, India carried out Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, and Owaisi said his party supports the operation. He warned that Pakistan may continue to recruit militants and that India must stay alert. “If we think the Pakistan army or ISI will stop once Operation Sindoor ends, we are wrong,” he told reporters. “The threat remains.”
Owaisi stressed that political rivalries should not overshine national interests. “The BJP or the Prime Minister is not bigger than the country,” he said. “Our party’s priority is to protect India, not to protest the government.” He also pointed out that AIMIM had asked to join an all‑party meeting after Operation Sindoor but was not invited, though he later met the home minister on textile issues.
In short, Owaisi’s remarks highlight growing criticism in India over the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict and the country’s foreign policy. He calls for sharper accountability, an end to armed violence, and a clear, transparent peace plan that safeguards Palestinian rights while protecting regional security.
