Lalu Prasad Yadav Mocks PM Modi Over ‘Jumla’ Promises Ahead of Bihar Visit

In a sharp jab at the BJP, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has taken a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi just days before his Bihar trip. With the state Assembly elections looming at the end of the year, Lalu shared a cheeky post on X, featuring a photo of PM Modi with the caption: "When will you come to Bihar to recite the Jumla?" The term "jumla," meaning empty promises, has become a favorite taunt from RJD leaders against Modi’s pledges.

PM Modi is all set to land in Bihar on September 15. He will kick off the shiny new Purnea airport, a big win for the locals after years of waiting, and roll out development projects worth thousands of crores. Expect a massive public rally too, where he’ll share the stage with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other key ministers. This visit is shaping up as a major boost for the BJP and NDA ahead of the Bihar elections.

Lalu isn’t holding back—RJD leaders have a habit of calling out Modi’s Bihar tours as "jumla" sessions. Just last month, on August 22, when PM Modi visited Gaya, Lalu’s son and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav fired off a caricature on social media. It dubbed Modi "Jumle-ji" and mocked unfulfilled promises like 2 crore jobs every year, better women’s safety, and the Rs 15 lakh deposit in every bank account.

That post didn’t go down well with the BJP. Party leaders slapped complaints against Tejashwi in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, claiming it insulted the Prime Minister. But Tejashwi brushed it off, saying, "Neither my father Lalu Yadav ever feared cases, nor do I fear these FIRs." The episode highlights the heated rivalry between RJD and BJP in Bihar’s cutthroat politics.

Tejashwi hasn’t stopped there. He’s slammed the Nitish Kumar-led government over the worsening law and order situation, especially after an RJD leader’s murder in Patna. "In this double-engine setup, murders, robberies, dacoities, and rapes keep rising. Criminals get a free pass from those in power. Over 100 murders have happened, but no one’s doing anything. Today, criminals rule like kings," he charged.

On the flip side, BJP and NDA folks are gearing up for a grand show during Modi’s visit. The Purnea airport inauguration alone is a huge deal, fulfilling a long-standing demand and signaling more growth for Bihar. As the election buzz builds, these barbs from Lalu and Tejashwi show how fiercely parties are battling for votes in the state. Stay tuned for more updates on Bihar politics and PM Modi’s tour.
