Lifetime achievement: Teachers from Haryana, J&K, Delhi thank govt for ‘National Teacher Awards’

On Teachers’ Day, President Droupadi Murmu honored 45 outstanding teachers with the prestigious National Teacher Awards during a special ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. This event celebrated the hard work and dedication of teachers from across India, including Daman, Haryana, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Many of the award-winning teachers shared how proud they felt to receive this recognition. Bhavinniben Dineshbhai Desai from Daman said she was grateful to the government and the Education Ministry. She works hard to help students stay in school until at least Class 8, providing facilities like sex education and technology tools to support learning.
Sunita from Haryana called receiving the award a “lifetime achievement” and praised the government for recognizing her efforts in promoting overall development among students. Kuldeep Gupta from Jammu and Kashmir expressed pride in his work, which focuses on joyful, experimental teaching methods to keep students engaged and happy.
Awadesh Jha from Delhi shared his excitement about his school’s achievements, including creating a ‘Deshbhakti’ park, a reading room, and securing over Rs 1 crore in funding from Physics Wallah founder Alakh Pandey to improve school facilities. He’s proud to see his students perform well and to be honored in this way.
Earlier that day, President Murmu highlighted the vital role of teachers in shaping the future of the nation. She emphasized the importance of investing in education, especially for girls, which she described as a key step toward building a stronger society and nation.
The teachers who received awards were selected through an tough three-stage process. The group includes 24 men and 21 women from cities, towns, and remote villages, all recognized for their innovative teaching methods and positive impact on students.
This Teachers’ Day celebration was a heartfelt reminder of how teachers inspire, motivate, and transform lives across India.
