In Bihar’s heated political scene, Lok Janshakti Party leader and Samastipur MP Shambhavi Choudhary fired back at corruption charges from Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor. She called his claims against the Nitish Kumar government “false” and “just political gamesmanship,” especially as elections near.
Kishor recently targeted Shambhavi’s father, Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary, along with her mother-in-law and the Manav Vaibhav Vikas Trust, accusing them of building illegal wealth. Speaking to reporters in Patna, Shambhavi dismissed the attacks as election-season noise. “These kinds of allegations fly around all the time during polls—it’s no big surprise,” she said. “My father and mother-in-law already addressed what Prashant Kishor threw at them.”
She labeled the claims baseless and personal, pointing out how Kishor dragged in her late father-in-law, Kishore Kunal, and her mother-in-law—folks from non-political backgrounds. “Nothing shady happened with the trust,” Shambhavi insisted. “They can keep talking, but we’ll stick to our facts. This back-and-forth has no end.” She promised the Manav Vaibhav Vikas Trust would soon lay out its full story. “The allegations are groundless—no hiding anything. We’ll respond properly,” she added.
This clash ramps up the growing Bihar politics feud. Kishor, in a Monday press conference, claimed solid proof of Ashok Choudhary’s “disproportionate assets” worth Rs 200 crore. He demanded the minister drop a Rs 100 crore defamation notice and apologize publicly within seven days—or face escalation to the Governor and courts.
“We’ve shared documents on his Rs 200 crore in assets,” Kishor said. “If he says the land isn’t his, explain it to the people. Hiding behind politics won’t cut it.” He upped the ante, warning of more revelations: “Apologize, or next we’ll expose Rs 500 crore in assets.”
Kishor also hammered the minister’s department for handing out over Rs 20,000 crore in contracts in just eight months. He alleged Ashok Choudhary pocketed a 5% cut on each deal, plus 0.5% more when funds released—money that even “burned” at an engineer’s home recently. “In our next briefing, we’ll bring forward people who paid those commissions,” Kishor vowed.
Turning to the Manav Vaibhav Vikas Trust, Kishor questioned multi-crore property buys right after Shambhavi’s engagement to Saayan Kunal. “Properties over Rs 100 crore came from the trust’s account—where’d the cash come from?” he asked. He called for full financial transparency from trust links like Jiyalal Arya, Anita Kunal (Kishore Kunal’s wife and Shambhavi’s mother-in-law), and even the mother-in-law of Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit.
“Don’t drag late Kishore Kunal’s name through the mud,” Kishor urged. “Hold a press conference, show the money sources and account details.” Ashok Choudhary has already denied all charges, setting the stage for more Bihar corruption battles ahead.
