Chhattisgarh Boosts Bastar as Industrial Hub with New Investor Connect Event
In a big push to turn the scenic Bastar region into a thriving spot for industries and jobs, the Chhattisgarh government kicked off the Bastar Investor Connect on Thursday. This event, organized by the state’s Commerce and Industry Department, ties right into the fresh Chhattisgarh Industrial Development Policy 2024-30, aiming to spark growth while keeping Bastar’s natural beauty and tribal roots intact.
Raziya Shaikh, founder of Bastar Food Firm, shared exciting news at the event. She revealed that even companies from London have poured investments into the area. "Bastar is all about its stunning natural heritage and rich tribal culture," Shaikh said. "We want every investment to respect that, so the world keeps knowing Bastar for what makes it special." She added that while many hesitated to invest here before, the potential is huge, and now global players are jumping in.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted the momentum during a chat with reporters. "We’re holding Investor Connect events non-stop across the state to fuel growth," he said. The Bastar edition, he noted, will supercharge small-scale industries and create real opportunities for locals. "This directly benefits the people here," Sai emphasized.
Diving into the new industrial policy, the CM pointed out its focus on inclusivity. It offers special perks for entrepreneurs from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and women. "If you’re from these groups or a woman starting a business, we’ve got tailored incentives to help you succeed," he explained. This approach not only drives job creation but also empowers communities in places like Bastar.
The Chhattisgarh Industrial Policy 2024-30 is opening doors for investments, innovation, and employment statewide, with a special eye on balanced development in tribal areas. It prioritizes big projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore or those creating more than 1,000 jobs, targeting sectors like pharmaceuticals, agro-processing, textiles, IT and digital tech, advanced electronics, aerospace and defence, and Global Capability Centres. Tourism gets a major lift too—now treated as an industry with subsidies up to 45% for hotels, eco-tourism spots, wellness centres, adventure sports, and sports facilities. All this while safeguarding Bastar’s unique tribal heritage and cultural identity.
With events like this, Chhattisgarh is set to transform Bastar from a hidden gem into an economic powerhouse, blending progress with its timeless charm.
