In Bhopal, the state government of Madhya Pradesh announced a cash reward of 1 crore rupees for Kranti Goud, a star bowler on India’s first‑ever women’s World Cup winning team.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the declaration on Monday while hosting a ceremony in the city. “Kranti Goud will receive 1 crore from the state as an incentive for her outstanding performance,” Yadav said, congratulating the whole squad for their historic win.
The Indian women’s cricket team lifted the World Cup trophy for the first time on Sunday, beating South Africa by 52 runs in a match held in Navi Mumbai. The victory sparked nationwide celebration and pride.
Kranti, who hails from Ghuwara in Chhatarpur district, was key to the triumph. She took nine wickets in eight games, leading her team with tight, consistent bowling. She earned Player of the Match honors when she made 3/20 against Pakistan in the group stage.
Earlier in the tournament, Goud had already made headlines by snaring a six‑wicket haul against England, becoming only the second Indian woman to do so in an ODI.
Chief Minister Yadav praised the progress of Indian women across all fields, citing the World Cup success as a shining example of the country’s growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
