In Mumbai on October 20, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a fully developed India by the 2047 Independence centenary.
He said the state will not fall behind and that the new “Viksit Maharashtra 2047” vision document will be a key tool in making that dream reality.
Fadnavis spoke at the Viksit Maharashtra Advisory Committee meeting, where the draft vision was approved. The document, soon to be presented to the Cabinet, lays out a clear roadmap in three phases—by 2029, 2035 and 2047—to transform Maharashtra into a world‑class state.
“Using this document in every future plan will help Maharashtra compete on a global level,” the CM said. He urged that the contents be turned into an easy‑to‑watch video for citizens and that government agencies adopt artificial‑intelligence systems to filter and improve proposals before they reach officials.
The chief minister also called on the Industries Department to build a cloud‑based system that links citizen data across schemes, and he stressed the need for a sustainable development model that can withstand future challenges.
Fadnavis thanked voters for their input, noting that the draft was built on suggestions from over 400,000 citizens who responded during a survey from June 19 to July 28, 2025. The survey also gathered 35,000 audio messages and more than 700,000 responses to specific departmental studies.
The Viksit Maharashtra 2047 vision is designed to guide the state toward a prosperous future, aligning with President Modi’s 2047 goal and positioning Maharashtra as a global contender.
