In Patna on Friday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav started a new campaign round after the Mahagathbandhan – Bihar’s Grand Alliance – gave him a clear nod to run for chief minister in the upcoming assembly elections.
Yadav said right away that he will not make broken promises. “I keep my word, and our goal is to make Bihar the best state in the country,” he told reporters before heading out of the city.
He promised to lift every one of Bihar’s 14 crore residents, calling it a “Chinta Mukt” (worry‑free) future. The alliance plans to push forward on three key pillars: education, health and boosting people’s income. Yadav also highlighted a new scheme called Jeevika Didi and said his government would create a government job for each family member, as pledged earlier.
“Our priorities are education, health, justice and employment. These are the foundations for development and good governance in Bihar,” Yadav added.
Earlier that day, he shared a picture taken in a helicopter with the alliance’s deputy chief ministerial candidate, Mukesh Sahani. In the photo, the pair look ready to launch their high‑energy campaign for the two‑phase elections. Yadav captioned the image: “Steps advancing toward the destination with enthusiasm, zeal, hope, and faith!”
Now all alliance partners, including the RJD, Congress and other parties, have started canvassing across the state for the Bihar Assembly elections.
The Grand Alliance officially named Yadav as the chief ministerial face at a joint press conference held at Hotel Maurya in Patna, with former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announcing the choice in front of alliance leaders. Mukesh Sahani was also named the deputy chief ministerial candidate. The decision came after months of negotiation, especially between the RJD and Congress over seat‑sharing and the CM candidate.
The announcement marks a new chapter for Bihar’s politics as the Mahagathbandhan pushes ahead with its united platform on education, health and employment, aiming to bring a fresh wave of development to the state.
