Man booked for ‘misbehaving’ with woman in Bengaluru

Bengaluru – A Bengaluru man has been booked for assault after he tried to touch a woman while she was petting her dog on Nov. 6.

Police say the victim, a female resident of the Jnanabharati area, was walking her dog in Upkar Layout when the accused asked if he could pet the animal. Thinking he was a dog lover, she let him touch the pet. After petting the dog, the man turned and inappropriately touched the woman. She resisted, and when he tried again she slapped him.

During the struggle the woman’s mobile phone fell, and before anyone could intervene, the suspect grabbed the phone and ran away. The woman filed a complaint soon after, and police began a search using CCTV footage from the area.

The case adds to a string of recent crimes against women in Bengaluru. Earlier this month a man was arrested for attempting to assault a differently‑abled woman while under the influence of marijuana, and a Rapido driver was charged with harassing a female passenger after the victim posted the incident on social media. Bengaluru police’s social‑media monitoring unit helped gather the details and opened a formal investigation.

The accused in the dog‑petting incident is still at large, and further updates will follow.
