In a sharp move against drug crime, Manipur police have taken a rifleman from their own ranks into custody. The arrest, made on October 10, 2025, came in the North AOC area of Imphal West district. The suspect, 43‑year‑old Wahidur Rahman of Moijing Leingoiching in Thoubal district, was found with 544 capsules of the drug Semplx +, weighing about 301 grams. Manipur police said they would file criminal charges in addition to disciplinary action, underscoring a zero‑tolerance stance on drug‑related misconduct.
The police are still probing how the contractor obtained the bulk supply. At the same time, authorities seized evidence of drug trafficking from two other suspects in Thoubal and Imphal East districts. Md Khursid Alam, 21, and Md Akbar, 37, were arrested following the same operation. Investigators recovered roughly 3 kg of heroin, eight bottles of psychoactive Tussrex‑TR syrup, about ₹9.57 million in drug proceeds, a SBBL gun with two cartridges, a four‑wheel vehicle and four mobile phones from their possession.
Manipur police reiterated that any member of the force caught engaging in illegal drug activities faces both administrative and criminal action. The investigation remains ongoing as the department works to dismantle the drug supply chain in the region.
