Manipur police said that on October 12, soldiers cleared two villages near the Patsoi police station in Imphal West district, finding serious weapons and gear. The raid, part of a wider hunt for illegal arms, yielded a .303 rifle with a magazine, a modified .303 rifle with another magazine, five pistols each with a magazine, helmets, bullet‑proof vests, and ten pairs of camouflage outfits.
The full list posted by the state police on X also included five helmets, four vests with pouches, eight suspected body‑armor plates, a handheld BAOFENG radio and charger, and four bags. All items were seized from Khongakhul and Longa Koireng villages in the Ngairangbam Loukon area.
This operation was just one of 115 checkpoints set up across Manipur’s hills and valleys. While the teams collected weapons and gear, none of the people checked were taken into custody, the police noted.
Earlier in the week, security forces also detained a member of the KCP militant group in the Omba hill crossing of Bishnupur district. The arrested individual, 36‑year‑old Heisnam Sanathoi Meetei, was accused of extorting money from locals in the Moirang area. A mobile phone and a two‑wheeler were seized from his possession.
