In Lucknow on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath opened 15 new Seva Shakti Kendras—community centers that aim to give women a stronger voice and supportive services. The ceremony highlighted the hard work of “Matri Shaktis,” women who have driven change in health, education, service, literature, and music.
At the launch, Yogi Adityanath praised these women, saying they bring fresh direction to society with their dedication. He added that the centers would continue to empower more women under the leadership of former MLA D P Bora, whose statue was unveiled during the event.
The program also celebrated Sharad Purnima, a festival that marks the birth anniversaries of the sage Valmiki and the devotee Meerabai. Yogi Adityanath used the occasion to thank literature for raising social awareness, especially pointing to poet Sarvesh Asthana. He noted that Sarvesh’s works inspire empathy and uphold women’s dignity, echoing the virtuous values of Lord Rama.
Mission Shakti, part of the state’s broader strategy to empower women, was highlighted as a key initiative behind the new centers. The launch marked a milestone in the mission’s effort to recognize and support women across many sectors.
Earlier in the day, Yogi Adityanath addressed a gathering in Lucknow on Maharishi Valmiki Prakat Diwas. He stressed that disrespecting Lord Ram also insults Lord Valmiki, reinforcing the cultural bond between the two revered figures.
Throughout the day, Uttar Pradesh celebrated Valmiki Jayanti with large-scale events, including Ramayana recitations, devotional music, hymns, and lamp‑lighting ceremonies at Valmiki‑associated temples. These activities aimed to deepen reverence for the ancient sage and the epic traditions that continue to shape the state’s cultural heritage.
