Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared warm wishes with Indians on the third day of Shardiya Navratri, a vibrant Hindu festival honoring Goddess Durga. This day focuses on worshipping Goddess Chandraghanta, known for her peaceful yet powerful presence that inspires courage and fearlessness.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi highlighted the significance of the day. “The third day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Chandraghanta, the symbol of peace, courage, and fearlessness,” he wrote. “May the blessings of Devi Ma infuse positivity into everyone’s life. May her grace bring happiness, prosperity, and good fortune to my family members across the country.”

To add to the festive spirit, Modi also shared a devotional song dedicated to the goddess. His message quickly resonated with millions celebrating Navratri across India.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath joined in the greetings on social media. He posted a traditional shlok, saying, “On the third day of the sacred festival of Shardiya Navratri, dedicated to the worship of Mother Durga, the universal mother, may Mother Chandraghanta grant courage and peace to her devotees and free them from all troubles!”

Devotees showed their devotion in huge numbers, flocking to temples from early morning. Lines formed outside popular shrines as people offered prayers and performed rituals to seek the goddess’s blessings.

Goddess Chandraghanta appears with a serene expression but carries immense strength. She holds ten arms, each gripping weapons like a sword or trident, a lotus flower, or the Abhaya Mudra—a gesture that promises protection and removes fear. The half-moon, or “chandra-ghanta,” on her forehead gives her this unique name. Worshippers believe she clears obstacles, boosts inner strength, and brings bravery, peace, and success into daily lives.

Shardiya Navratri, meaning “nine nights” in Sanskrit, celebrates Goddess Durga and her nine forms, called Navdurga. This autumn festival draws huge crowds in India with fasting, dances like Garba and Dandiya, and colorful processions. It marks a time of renewal, where families come together to honor the divine feminine energy that triumphs over evil. As the celebrations continue, expect more temple visits and joyful festivities in the coming days.
