In the past week, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued ten minors—seven boys and three girls—from stations across the Northeast.
CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma told reporters that between Oct. 25 and 30, RPF teams operating in Dimapur, Chaparmukh, Agartala, Kishanganj, and Alipurduar junctions found runaway children and other vulnerable passengers. The RPF’s “Meri Saheli” squads, staffed by dedicated women officers, worked tirelessly to spot and secure children who might have been at risk of human trafficking or other threats.
On Oct. 25, RPF teams in Dimapur (Nagaland) and Chaparmukh (Assam) rescued two boys and one girl. The following days, teams in Dimapur took three more boys, while Alipurduar junction recovered two boys. Agartala and Kishanganj each produced one rescued girl.
Every child was immediately handed over to Child Line authorities, local police, and NGOs for safe custody and further care. The RPF’s prompt action helps prevent exploitation and ensures that young passengers receive the support they need.
NFR covers the northeastern states and stretches into seven West Bengal districts and five north‑Bihar districts. The force highlights that its ongoing patrols and passenger‑friendly measures keep women and children safe on trains and at stations.
By swiftly intervening and cooperation with child‑protection agencies, the RPF continues its mission to protect the most vulnerable travelers from abduction and trafficking.
