The Ministry of Law and Justice kicked off another clean‑up push under its Special Campaign 5.0. The goal is simple: make government offices cleaner, faster and more efficient.

On Saturday, staff in the Legislative Department’s main office – Shastri Bhawan – ran a record‑room sweep. 1,500 old files were sorted and removed following India’s Record Retention Schedule. The work was carried out in front of KV Kumar, the department’s Additional Secretary, and the team. The move cleared clutter and lets workers find the documents they need quicker.

Just a day before, the same department started a digital clean‑up. They catalogued computers, printers, scanners, photocopiers, and other IT gear that were no longer in use. The plan is to dispose of the e‑waste responsibly, a step that matches India’s push for greener practices. The old equipment will be sold or recycled through the GeM portal, ensuring all legal rules are followed.

Senior officials also walked through Jaisalmer House, the department’s storeroom, checking cleanliness and security. They spotted more e‑waste that will join the GeM disposal list.

Special Campaign 5.0 is part of the ministry’s October 2‑31 rollout. It tackles pending issues like MPs’ reference files, PMO and inter‑ministerial papers, public complaints and promises from Parliament. By cleaning up both paperwork and hardware, the Ministry of Law and Justice is working to make government operations faster and more transparent for everyone.
