BJP leader Pratul Shah Deo warned on Saturday that the INDIA coalition is backing illegal migrants and would‑have‑been‑detected infiltrators in Bihar and Jharkhand. He said that parties other than the BJP help Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators get voter cards and Aadhar cards, and that these infiltrators are misusing minority welfare schemes. “They’ve even reached mainland India,” Deo claimed in an interview with .
Earlier this week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked about the “right of return” for persecuted Hindus from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Speaking at a lecture and a literary event in Ranchi, he said, “Everyone does not have the right to come here. Those who have faced injustice are welcome.” He added that Hindus from Pakistan and Bangladesh have as much claim to Indian soil as he does. “If we let everyone in, our country would become a ‘Dharamshala’,” Shah warned.
Shah also highlighted census data, arguing that infiltration and demographic changes threaten India’s cultural and linguistic identity. He said the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) does not strip anyone of citizenship. The Modi government, he explained, uses the CAA to correct a historical injustice that denied citizenship to displaced Hindu families between 1951 and 2014.
The BJP’s stance remains that it protects Hindu minorities in neighboring countries while the opposition faces criticism over alleged support for illegal migrants in the Indian states.
