In Aizawl, the Assam Rifles kicked off a 13‑day National Integration Tour for students from three districts of Mizoram on Monday. Twenty students and two teachers set out under the flag of the Governor of Mizoram, former Army officer General VK Singh. The departure took place at the Raj Bhavan’s parking lot, where the Governor welcomed the youngsters and praised the trip as a chance for them to explore India’s diversity and grow personally.
General Singh highlighted the journey’s start from the new Sairang railway station, calling it a proud moment that signals future rail links to the southern districts. He urged the students to visit major Indian cities, experience different cultures, and learn from people across the country. “Unity in diversity is India’s strength,” he said, encouraging the kids to talk with locals, record their thoughts in a diary, and return home with a broader view of their nation.
The Assam Rifles posted the tour’s itinerary and rules at the briefing and handed each participant a commemorative cap. Senior officers, including Brigadier Puspendar Sorayan, Deputy Inspector General of Himachal 23 Sector, were also present.
During the 13‑day journey, the group will travel from Mizoram to Guwahati, then head to historic sites in Amritsar and Delhi before visiting selected military bases. Officials say the tour will deepen the students’ understanding of India’s rich cultural heritage, architectures and lifestyles, strengthening their sense of belonging and national pride. The tour is slated to finish on 29 November 2025, when the students will return to Mizoram.
