Chennai, Dec 3 (LatestNewsX) – Tamil Nadu BJP unit president Nainar Nagenthran said he feels proud and grateful for the unwavering backing the Union Government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given to farmers throughout the state.
In a statement he highlighted that the Modi administration’s third term, beginning in 2019, has already funneled ₹12,764 crore to Tamil Nadu’s farmers through the PM‑Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, providing every eligible farmer with a direct cash support of ₹6,000 each year. He called this “heartening and historic” for the agricultural community.
According to Nagenthran, this continuous financial help has become a vital lifeline for countless farming families across the state.
The leader also pointed out another milestone: under the Jal Jeevan Mission more than ten million rural households in Tamil Nadu have received free drinking‑water connections over the past six years, a development he said has “quenched the thirst of millions and transformed rural living standards”.
He reiterated that Prime Minister Modi views agriculture as the true soul of any nation, feeding the world and sustaining millions. From ensuring dignified livelihood support for farmers to improving rural infrastructure, the central government has taken “every step necessary to strengthen the agricultural backbone of Tamil Nadu”, he added.
“Thanks to the Prime Minister’s continual efforts to uplift the farming community and promote rural development, Tamil Nadu is firmly on a path of progress,” Nagenthran said, emphasizing that gratitude toward the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji is endless.
The BJP leader noted that Modi’s focus extends beyond direct cash transfers to long‑term structural reforms aimed at boosting farmers’ income and resilience. He listed initiatives such as large‑scale modernization of irrigation, promotion of micro‑irrigation, increased procurement at Minimum Support Prices, and expansion of crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, all of which have brought greater stability to farming households facing unpredictable weather and market swings.
Nagenthran closed by stating that Tamil Nadu’s agricultural sector is experiencing renewed confidence thanks to the centre’s proactive approach.
