Bhopal – Chief Minister Mohan Yadav handed out gifts to girls from low‑income families during a Diwali celebration in Bhopal, sending warm holiday wishes to the community on Tuesday.
At the event, Yadav said that daughters are “the pride of Madhya Pradesh” and that the state will keep working to make their lives better. He also highlighted the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose housing schemes have brought relief to many poor households.
The chief minister added that both the central and state governments run several welfare programs aimed at women and daughters. “Diwali brings smiles to everyone’s faces,” he told the gathered crowd, and he chatted with the children about school and family life.
MP Alok Sharma and other local leaders joined the ceremony at a community hall in Idgah Hills. Earlier, Yadav had performed a Dhanvantari Puja on Dhanteras at Mansarovar Medical College in Sehore.
Speaking about cultural celebrations, Yadav said the Govardhan Puja “shows how we can give and share what we have.” He also underlined the importance of animal husbandry for farmers’ income. Madhya Pradesh currently supplies 9 % of India’s milk and aims to raise that to 20 %.
To support farmers and encourage dairy growth, the state has increased the daily subsidy for cow shelters from ₹20 to ₹40. Yadav urged citizens to collaborate with the government on cattle conservation, promising full support for anyone who wants to rear cows, run a cowshed, or help a cow shelter.
This outreach reflects the government’s pledge to uplift girls and farmers alike while preserving state traditions.
