Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister Mohan Yadav lit the Dhanvantari Puja lamps at Mansarovar Medical College in Sehore district this Saturday. The ceremony marked Dhanteras, a festival that celebrates wealth and well‑being.
After the prayers, Yadav urged the college’s medical students and doctors to view health as more than medicine. “Health comes from a clean environment,” he said. “If our water, air and land stay polluted, medical treatments won’t stick.”
He called for lifelong habits of cleanliness, planting trees, and protecting water. “Water is life; safeguarding it safeguards our health,” Yadav explained.
The chief minister highlighted the significance of Lord Dhanvantari, the ancient Ayurvedic sage who, according to myth, emerged from the cosmic churn to bring the nectar of immortality. “He taught that a balanced diet, routine and harmony with nature keep disease at bay,” Yadav added.
Yadav emphasized that allopathic medicine and Ayurveda complement each other. He encouraged joint research to blend modern science with traditional healing for society’s benefit.
He closed by saying that Dhanteras reminds us that real wealth lies in a balanced body, mind, and connection to nature.
