Madhya Pradesh is ramping up its solar power game in a big way. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state has already hit nearly 5,000 MW of solar capacity this year, with ambitious plans to reach 33,000 MW by 2035.
Speaking virtually at an event in New Delhi on Monday, Yadav shared how the state’s overall energy capacity from various sources is growing fast. The government is pushing solar energy hard by offering incentives that appeal to everyone, from farmers to businesses.
The event drew big names, including Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, Maldives’ Minister of State for Environment and Tourism Muviath Mohammed, leaders from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and top industry players.
Yadav spotlighted some standout solar projects that put Madhya Pradesh on the map as a renewable energy leader. Take the Rewa solar park, which the state calls India’s largest. It powers the Delhi Metro and shows how Madhya Pradesh is stepping up in the country’s energy sector.
“Sanchi stands out as India’s first solar city,” Yadav said. “Omkareshwar boasts the nation’s biggest floating solar project, and Neemuch now has India’s largest pumped hydro power storage project. That makes us a top player in energy storage too.”
He also praised the new Morena Solar-Plus-Storage project, calling it a game-changer. “It’s India’s first setup delivering reliable, round-the-clock renewable power at a super-low tariff of just Rs 2.70 per unit,” Yadav noted.
Yadav tied these wins to national efforts like the Green Hydrogen Mission, PM-KUSUM Yojana for solar pumps, PM Surya Ghar scheme, and smart grid programs. These initiatives are driving India toward energy self-reliance, sustainability, and cleaner power— even providing free electricity to millions of homes.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, India has surged ahead in the energy world, becoming a global hotspot for clean energy tech. “We’re charging toward net zero emissions,” Yadav said. “Madhya Pradesh is ready to lead the charge in a clean energy future.”
These steps align with bigger goals like Make in India and Viksit Bharat, building a strong base for a secure and innovative nation. India is making waves in renewables, textiles, IT, agriculture, pharma, defense, and space—proving its strength across the board.
