In Sirathu, a town in Uttar Pradesh, a woman was brutally murdered on October 8 when her throat was sliced. Police quickly put together the case after reviewing CCTV footage, which led to the arrest of the accused, Balbeer Singh Patel, in a recent encounter.
The officer in charge, Satendra Tiwari, said the police team analyzed the surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses. Those clues pointed to Patel, who was the victim’s former lover. After a firefight, Patel fired at the officers but was hit in the leg by a police bullet and was taken to a hospital. He has been booked and will appear in court on Friday.
Police recovered the murder weapon, a motorcycle, and the victim’s mobile phone from Patel’s possession. Investigation into the motive and any possible accomplices is still ongoing. The case, which has drawn local attention, underscores the swift response of Uttar Pradesh police when dealing with violent crimes.
