In Lakhimpur Kheri on October 27, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the village of Mustafabad will now be called Kabirdham. The change was made while the CM attended a three‑day Prakatotsav program for Sant Asang Dev Maharaj at the Kabirdham Ashram.
Yogi Adityanath, who arrived early that morning, spoke to a large crowd of devotees and locals. He said that since 2014 the state has begun directing money toward the development of religious sites across the region—places like Kashi, Ayodhya, Kushinagar, and others—where previously funds had gone mainly to boundary walls around graveyards. “I asked about this village and was told its name is Mustafabad, yet not a single Muslim lives there. That name no longer feels right,” he explained. “It should now honor the spiritual heritage of the area as Kabirdham.”
The Chief Minister also used the occasion to highlight India’s progress since 2014. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership with transforming the country’s governance and boosting its economy. “India is moving ahead of almost every nation. At present, we are the fourth‑largest economy and are expected to become third‑largest soon, leaving only the United States and China ahead,” Yogi noted.
The renaming of Mustafabad, officials said, reflects a broader effort to preserve cultural identity and ensure that development funds serve the community in ways that respect its heritage. The CM’s remarks underline the state’s commitment to continued growth and inclusive development across Uttar Pradesh.
